Sam's Town Shreveport Team Members Return to The Urban Farm Following Excessive Storms

7/25/2023

In May, Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, Shreveport team members helped to spruce up The Urban Farm to improve food accessibility for the community.

Due to excessive storm damage earlier this month, raised beds that were once used to grow produce for underserved community were blown over by strong winds. Additionally, plant beds and grass walkways became overgrown from heavy rains in the area.

A group of wonderful volunteers from Sam’s Town Shreveport helped to improve The Urban Farm so that the Shreveport community could continue to be fed at no charge. In addition, volunteers harvested crops to be distributed to the local community through Shreveport Green’s Mobile Market – a program aimed to assist residents of Shreveport in low-income households with food inaccessibility.

Tina Williams, Warehouse Manager at Sam’s Town Shreveport, also offered to return on her own and mow the entirety of the land.

We thank our team members for working tirelessly to help the community recover!
